The fourth industrial revolution is on the horizon. But how ready are we in Croatia for a business transformation that can be defined as the integration of intelligent digital technologies into manufacturing and industrial processes based on sustainable and green transition? Are we as a society prepared for a leap that, due to climate change, will inevitably change the way we think about business?

Goran Ladišić from Project O2, which focuses on reforesting forests using drones, believes we are on the right track, but the implementation of new technologies and innovative solutions in environmental protection is not well received by the system; delays and bureaucracy are halting many good sustainable and green solutions.

- How is it possible that I, as an entrepreneur, have better cooperation with the Slovenian state, which has reacted positively to our collaboration in restoring forests affected by fire and in areas difficult to access and passable for traditional reforestation methods, said Ladišić.

- Trends are changing in Croatia; more and more companies are investing in renewable and green solutions, says entrepreneur Franjo Sobočan. In our business, not only do we have solar panels installed on our facilities, but we also pay great attention to waste management and sustainable business solutions. However, if we want to do business abroad and export, we need to obtain and certify ourselves because, without some proof of having a sustainable business that cares for nature, it becomes a conditio sine qua non for future business. Besides business partners, more and more consumers are concerned about whether a product is produced in line with the green transition.

On the other hand, if we do not find a new business model that is not based solely on constant economic growth and profit, we will indeed enter history as a civilization that did not save itself because it simply was not financially viable, as American writer and satirist Kurt Vonnegut said.
