ReforesTech
Strengthening R&D capacities for globally competitive, green and innovative technologies and services.
Project co-funded from the Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme 2021–2027

About the project
Magic Forest d.o.o. started implementing the project ReforesTech – Strengthening R&D capacities for globally competitive, green and innovative technologies and services on 01.01.2026 in accordance with the Grant Agreement signed with the Ministry of Economy and the Croatian Agency for SMEs, Innovation and Investments. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Competitiveness and Cohesion Programme 2021–2027.
Project purpose
Development of two globally-scaled environmental innovations as a comprehensive solution for reforesting hard-to-reach terrain. Through genuine cooperation with partners, we will strengthen capacities to commercialise R&D results while contributing to solving environmental challenges.
Context and market need
Global trends point to a growing need for innovative methods of forest restoration. The FAO estimates an annual loss of 10 million hectares of forest, with emissions of 2.4 billion tonnes of CO₂ (around 10% of global emissions). The EU plans to plant 3 billion new trees by 2030, which cannot be achieved with traditional afforestation methods alone. Increasingly frequent consequences of climate change compound the problem.
The ReforesTech project recognised these challenges and offers a unique market solution for reforestation — seed balls (SeedBombs) dispersed by drones. To close the full technological loop, the innovative service developed in the project brings 4 key innovations:
- improvement of the seed ball recipe,
- automation of the seed ball production process,
- technological innovation of seed dispersers,
- development of AI-powered software for sowing monitoring and analysis.
GreenFlight Drone System
The innovative service consists of creating a complete solution called GreenFlight Drone System — an integrated service for digitally guided aerial reforestation. The system unites planning, precise aerial application of seed balls, and monitoring of planting outcomes via an adapted unmanned aerial vehicle. The key novelty is the use of artificial intelligence in SeedBombs monitoring and evaluation, introducing a closed feedback loop where the drone releases SeedBombs, records them, tracks them, and uses the collected data to improve future applications.
