For Earth Day in Rijeka we planted a new hectare of forest together. Drones spread SeedBombs (seed balls) from the air over about 1 hectare, and a further 200 black pine seedlings (Pinus nigra) were planted by hand.
The action was launched and financed by Back to Blu and Liburnia, in cooperation with Project O2 and with the support of the City of Rijeka. Mayor Iva Rinčić and pupils from Rijeka schools joined the planting — combining education for the young with hands-on nature restoration.
Despite stormy weather, Rijeka gained a new hectare of forest and the first visible reforestation action within the Back to Blu initiative.
