The company from Grubišno Polje, Magic Forest, launched Project O2 four years ago and produces seed balls for reforesting hard-to-reach areas using specially equipped drones, with financial backing from major corporations. They have already been engaged in Slovenia, Kosovo, and will start in Serbia this autumn, but they have yet to break into work with Croatian forests. They are currently working on creating a park forest in Vukovar, and Goran Ladišić, the director and co-founder, discusses their experiences and plans with FORBES Croatia. “Besides Vukovar, no city in Croatia allows us to gift them a forest,” says Goran Ladišić, director and one of the three founders of the intriguing small company Magic Forest from Grubišno Polje, which specializes in aerial reforestation. He does not understand why there is no interest in this.

However, in eastern Croatia, they have been tasked with creating a large park forest for the people of Vukovar at the Potkova location along the Vuka River, and they will also collaborate with schoolchildren on this project. The business concept involves negotiating locations with local authorities, and reforestation actions are financially supported by large companies for whom this is part of their corporate social responsibility and ESG goals.

Regional Collaboration with Dron Spray In Croatia, besides the current project in Vukovar on 50 hectares, they have previously reforested only in Grubišno Polje and Oklaj. However, they are already active in Slovenia and Kosovo, and will soon start planting in Serbia on Fruška Gora, followed by Durmitor in Montenegro. They have signed a representation agreement with Dron Spray, a company that uses drones in agriculture and viticulture, founded by former professional basketball player Boris Savović. The specialty of this small Croatian company, established four years ago, is that they use specially adapted drones to deploy self-germinating seed balls, known as seed bombs, thus efficiently reforesting hard-to-reach, logged, or burned areas. They operate under the brand Project O2.
